Alternate: Compacted Steel Ingot

My calculator completely ignores the recipe “Alternate: Compacted Steel Ingot”. I want steel to be produced exclusively using this recipe in my factory. Therefore, I enable (check the box for) this recipe in the calculator and disable (uncheck the box for) the standard recipe. At that point, the calculator displays an error message:

No results found.
No solution found for the given parameters. Try adjusting the inputs, outputs and available recipes.
Try adding the following recipes: Steel Ingot.

Why would I need to add the steel ingot recipe to the production of a steel ingot? That’s a tautology.
